MAAM MEMBER PROFILE

Nasim Alikhani: "I was not very clear about my reasons for doing the marathon but I knew that at this point of my life, I needed something to hang onto. Last year was a very challenging year for me on many fronts and every time that the pressure built up I would put on my sneakers and go for a run and somehow things always looked better when I got back."

Training

Our Training Concept

Training with MAAM means setting a goal and achieving it - a skill for life.

What matters to us is that you develop the confidence to believe in your own ability and recognize the power that running can have on everything you do.

Our hope is that running will become part of your life, as will the members you run with.

More than 90% of our members are still running on a regular basis - we're very proud of that.

Getting Results - Technically Speaking

MAAM prides itself on its high-quality coaching. We focus on injury-preventative running technique, endurance building, mental strengthening and proper nutrition for maximum performance and overall health. Our coaches are nationally certified and deeply committed.

It's a common misconception that running requires little skill and comes naturally to everyone. Even though we are built to run, we no longer move like children. Injury is common from lack of education - and this is a real shame.

Did you know, for instance, that the "wrong" running shoe is the #1 reason for injury?

Group Training

Group sessions accommodate all levels and ages. Our "drop-in" policy allows members to come when they can.

There is no additional charge for training sessions, no need to reserve a spot, and no limit on how many sessions you can attend.

Individual Training: The Virtual Coach

MAAM's Virtual Coach makes training on your own possible from anywhere and includes unlimited phone support from a real coach.

The Virtual Coach is an online training system designed just for our members with 4 main components: a weekly running program, daily insight (inspiration and training tips), an interactive running log (with a live coach to monitor you) and a training calendar.

All you need to do is log in and we'll be on the other end to provide the type of support you can usually only get in person.

Private Coaching

Private coaching is available in New York City. Please contact us for information about rates and availability at maamcoach@aol.com

Bringing Children

MAAM recognizes the need for more child-friendly fitness opportunities and urges mothers to take an active role in modeling sports for their children.

Children are welcome at workouts though MAAM does not provide an official babysitting service and members are solely responsible for their children during group training.
